The Group

Night out The Shack

Welcome to my website! First, a bit about me - I first started on the CB Radio in 1987 when I was ten year's old, then I got on to the 11 meter band USB, a friend of the family was in to Amateur Radio and I used to go down and listen to him talking to people all over the world.

On  the 19th of September 2002 I took my M3 call sign in Chepstow, GW3JBH John was the tutor for the group. Then I took my 2E0 on 7th June 2007. My examiners were G0LGS Stewart & M0RAR Nick. But the most help I had came from M3IXC Dave.

My Shack: Consists of a YEASU FT-857, an FT-1500 for 2m. A Co-Linear for 2 and 70cm. For 2m SSB I have a 9 element beam approx 25 feet above ground level. The HF station comprises of a YEASU FT-100MP, with MD-100 Mic. the Antenna is a full size G5RV at approx 45 feet above ground level .

My Band: The Frequency I use is 80-40-20 meters. I like listing on the HF bands. I enjoy using the 2m band. We have a link going there throughout the day which sometimes extends well in to the early hours, there is a lot of friendly banter!
